Odds and probabilities are frequently used to describe potential outcomes of certain situations. Often we relate the term odds with casino games, horse racing, and sporting events. If you have less than 50/50 odds, you will probably lose; if you have greater than 50/50 odds, you will probably win. However, there is never a guarantee and that is why it is called gambling. You NEVER want to gamble with your job tasks. You want better than 50/50 odds of being successful with your job tasks and roles.
You may be asking yourself how you can achieve better odds when a situation is not in your favor. Simple: Study and/or Practice. The more practice or experience you gain at a certain task, the greater likelihood that you will be successful. Furthermore, if you decide to not practice or study the task, your chances of being successful will be less. There are always things that can be done to help you prepare better for a certain task that will increase your probability for success.
Sometimes it might feel like you are failing at everything you do. But remember, life isn’t all failures. You will encounter many successes in your life. Don’t jump to the conclusion that life is one big failure even if your luck seems to be flipping in the wrong direction. Trust that the coin will flip in your direction soon enough. When it does, enjoy the great success! Hard work and dedication truly will pay off.
