Have you ever thought to yourself, “Why in the world are we doing a job that way? It’s not efficient at all and this is a waste of my time!” Of course you have. It is okay to have thought this way and most companies encourage their employees to think like this. Companies need the input of their employees on how to become more efficient and effective with the companies processes. A red flag should pop in your head when an individual responds to a question with the answer of, “We’ve always done it this way.” Asking questions helps to improve operations.

Two things may come from asking your questions:

  1. Your company might locate a “boiled frog” and if they do, then they will find a better and more efficient way of performing a certain task.
  2. Your company may be able to provide you with more information that will allow you to understand why we have to do something in a particular way. It becomes a learning experience for you.

Nothing bad will result from asking questions. A fresh new look at procedures can only help make your company a better place to work. Be confident and know that your input will always be welcomed.
